A fast read that truly helps in setting up and using the Amazon Fire Stick. It helps getting the MOST out of this great entertaining device.

I'm an older man who doesn't work so well with tutorials and needs a nuts and bolts old fashion instruction manual that takes my by the hand knowing I know nothing and walks me through the process... This book does it the old fashion way... Heck I mastered my Fire TV faster then my 18 year old grandson... Ha, one for the old guys...

Very basic, keeps referring to updates that may or may not happen. I was hoping for a tutorial so I could master this equipment. It more or less describes what an HDMI cable is and where it goes. Sorry folks, but if you're not past that point already, maybe you don't need an Amazon Fire TV.Don't get me wrong, there are a few nuggets of good information in here... just not enough to justify the cost. I think that Amazon might have included this free with the purchase of the equipment.

Very wet pages a mess not useable at all even cover. And was looking forward to useful information. The other books haven’t been able to help in setup still can’t get to work or app to load properly. Must need more aptitude than I have Gretchen either waterproof envelope or put inside the door would have made this problem nonexistent

I found the book very very informative and well worth the price. The FireTV is capable of much much more than one would realize based on its face. The only reason I did not give it five stars is that the version I received is not updated for the new FireTV that does not have the micro SD slot.

I am fairly savvy hen it comes to smartphones, tablets (Currently I own the Kindle HD 7), and streaming devices. This book is written so that just about anyone can understand it and learn something. Reaching out to all levels is often hard to do, but y'all nailed it. Well Done.

Very informative. Although Fire TV is very easy to use and set up, this book was helpful to give me a quick overview of the options available.

useful, esp. if you have no previous experience with Fire TV. There's no guide included with the new device except a simple quick-start page (=connect HDMI cable, connect power adapter, install batteries in remote. Option, connect ethernet cable if needed/preferred to wireless). Since there is a (free) FireTV User Guide available online, the main advantage to having this book is if you don't have a handy device to access the internet in the same room as your TV. *Note* there has been at least one software upgrade (adding new features) since this was written.

I like the book but it is not the writer,s fault but there seams to be a loss of some information to me. As I am 72 and did not understand half of that which is written. I know that at my age I am not understanding very much. I need someone to explain it to me better. Ha ha ! Like that's going to happen. I am just waiting for GOD positively. I want to get rid of cable as cheap as I can. If I can figure this out it might be the way to do it. TNX

Many Players really enjoy the original Call of Cthulhu, which is dark, scary and quite gritty. But others dont care for the fact that their carefully designed and beloved character (Investigator) is heading for..... certain doom.So, Mike Mason and team came up with a slightly different CoC, one where the characters are Pulp Heroes- and in some cases verging on heroes from the Golden Age of Comics (no supers, but Wildcat is doable). Not quite up to Doc Savage or The Shadow, but you can play the likes of Flashgun Casey, Mr. Death , The Phantom, The Spirit, and so forth.The first part of the book explains Pulp Heroes and the genre, then Character generation. "Pulp Talents" like "Tough Guy" or "Weird Science' can keep your character alive longer and make him or her more unique. Also a important addition is "Investigator Luck" where you get and can spent luck points to ward off damage or even sanity loss- to a point. Not to be scorned is the fact that Hit Points are more or less twice what they were in standard CoC.Mysticism, Weird Science, and Hypnosis are also some of the things Investigators can get into. Keepers (Game Masters) can adjust things by the "Pulp-o-Meter" with optional rules.A nice section on the 1930s with plenty of background information is included. Good stuff for any game set in that period.Rounding out this excellent book are no less than four interesting looking adventures, complete with floor plans (one of a Zeppelin!) and plenty of handouts.Owning a copy of Call of Cthulhu will be handy, but not necessary.

A really good book for anyone who likes Cthulhu, pulp fiction, and/or role-playing games. Combines the horror rpg of Cthulhu with that of pulp fiction from the early part of the 20th Century. Whether it's radio dramas, classic movies, pulp books and comics, or some combination of those, the book gives a good overview of mixing the two tropes together. Expanding upon the Call of Cthulhu RPG series, it allows people to apply pulp fiction worlds to that of Call of Cthulhu with some samples included in the book. Even people who don't necessarily like one or more of the aforementioned things, it's still a good book. Definitely recommend it to people who like rpgs, pulp fiction material, and/or the Cthulhu mythos

Pulp Cthulhu, we might survive. Art and RPG mechanics are Awesome

My husband loved this book. He’s into DnD but has always loved HP Lovecraft. This was a perfect addition to his growing collection.

Pulp Cthulhu is the necessary revision to Chaosium's core rulebook, making the players a little less squishy and turning them more heroic. We feel less like we're on an inevitable path to insanity under the Pulp rules and gameply is a bit more dynamic. very useful for players new to Cthulhu. I recommend it.

There is one very important thing to note about this book: it is essentially a campaign sourcebook, and contains very few of the rules of the actual game. That is to say, it’s a book about how to run a pulp-style Call of Cthulhu game; so it has rules for creating pulp-style character, and very slight additions to the regular rule set, but it does not, for example, have any rules for combat, or most of the rest of the things required to run a Call of Cthulhu game. For that, you need the Keeper’s Guide, the main rulebook. Oddly, the alternate rulebook for players, the Investigator’s Handbook, is basically the same thing, just for a standard CoC game. Maybe that’s considered normal for this setting, but I’ve been an RPG gamer for thirty years, and it certainly surprised me. (what this means is that if you’re playing the a pulp game, you do NOT need both the Pulp Cthulhu book and the Investigator’s Handbook – they replicate the same things, for a pulp and standard settings, respectively. You will need a Keeper’s Rulebook, however).None of this takes away from the quality of the book, which is generally high. Text and illustrations are good, the index is a bit weird (the included adventures each have an index separate from the main one?), and it’s a kind of strange mix of things only needed by players and things only needed by gamemasters, but as long as you know that going in, it’s a solid purchase. I definitely prefer the Pulp setting to the standard one, for example.
