This book is brilliantly conceived, magnificently executed, and superbly produced. The photographer has an uncanny ability to find beauty in--of all things- geology! But this isn't a textbook. It is a compilation of aerial photographs of the earth, which can only be described as uncanny and remarkable. When you think about it, Bernhard Edmaier had to first see a scene from the air and then realize its potential. But then he had to figure out where the sun needed to be in order to really capture the colors just right. Edmaier has a knack for this, which he has previously proven with his other masterpieces "Earthsong" and Earth on Fire". But this latest release is his finest book yet. All of his photographs in EarthArt are printed against a clean black background to really set off the quality of the colors and photographs themselves. I know of no other aerial photographer that can pull it off like Edmaier can. And a word about the publisher Phaidon; these are the guys that published the large-format post-911 masterpiece called "Aftermath" which I also own. Phaidon does justice to coffee table books, but manages to do it without charging an arm and both legs. And EarthArt is one of their latest offerings worth your consideration. Once you purchase this book, you will not be satisfied until you own the whole set. But what a trio of delights they are!!!

The size of this book makes it a beautiful cover to leave open on any of the many pages of colour represented within. I kept it open near my desk on a different page each day and enjoyed walking past it, glancing and taking an interest.It's the kind of book that says a lot even before you open it. Subtle sometimes speaks the loudest.

Used this as our guest book at our wedding. Guest wrote notes on the black pages. Beautiful photos and intense colors! A great addition to our booo collection.

Read, devoured, at the New York Society Library.This compilation of aerial photographs of the earth is amazing in conception, scouting, framing, photographing and then actual producing this beautiful book. Bernhard Edmaier had to realize a scene from the air could make a great photograph. Then he had to work out the correct angles between his camera and the light from the sun, all this when both the plane and the sun were moving against the scene.As a hiker, I am always amazed at how the landscape changes during the day, and in particular how the colors change. Edmaier seems to have an innate ability to work out all these factors. He has done it before in two other splendid books:Earthsong -- the hardcover is superior to the paperback version, andand Earth On Fire: How Volcanoes Shape Our Planet .The photographs are printed against a black background on high quality paper and with excellent reproductions. Phaidon; means "quality" in art books, and this is one of their best, a book they should be proud of and that I would be proud to put in a place of honor in my new apartment.Robert C. RossMay 2016

About the Author

Only a handful of coaches in ACC history has achieved what NC State head coach Mark Gottfried has in his three years at NCSU. After 70 wins and three NCAA Tournament trips in three seasons, Gottfried has elevated the Wolfpack basketball program back to national prominence. Through three seasons at NCSU, Gottfried owns a 70-36 record and became just the third coach in the history of the ACC to take his school to the Big Dance in each of his first three seasons. Only legendary coach Everett Case has won more games in his first three seasons at NC State. Additionally, the 70 victories was the most for the Wolfpack over a three-year span since 1973-76. Leading up to the 2013-14 season, Gottfried's young Wolfpack squad was picked to finish 10th in the ACC. Expectations were low. Gottfried and his staff stayed positive with the young team as it grew. The end result was 22 wins and a trip to the 2014 NCAA Tournament. NC State defeated Xavier in the first round of the tournament, capping a brilliant late-season run that featured March wins over Pittsburgh and 11th-ranked Syracuse. Under Gottfried's tutelage, T.J. Warren was the 2014 ACC Player of the Year and was third in the nation in scoring. In 2012-13, Gottfried's second season, the Wolfpack went 24-11 and spent much of the season in the national rankings. The success brought ESPN College Gameday to NC State, where NCSU captured a 91-83 win over North Carolina. That win came two weeks after NC State had taken down top-ranked Duke 84-76. The 2012-13 season marked the first time NC State had defeated UNC and Duke in the same season since 2007. In his first season in Raleigh, the Pack earned its first NCAA Tournament berth since 2006 and made its first Sweet 16 appearance since 2005. For Gottfried, this was not unfamiliar territory as he has now made 19 trips to the Big Dance as either a player or coach. He became only the second coach in ACC history to lead his team to a pair of NCAA Tournament victories in his initial season and he was one of seven first-year coaches in 68-team tournament field. Gottfried became the third Wolfpack coach to direct his team to the NCAA Tournament in his first season, joining Press Maravich (1965) and Les Robinson (1991) to accomplish the feat. His 24 wins and .667 winning percentage were the best for first-year head coaches in the ACC and one of the best nationally. Gottfried's first-year win total win total was only second to legendary Everett Case (26) for triumphs by a first-year Wolfpack mentor, and the 24 wins were the most for the Pack since 1988. In 2012 ACC play, Gottfried guided NC State to nine conference victories, the most for NC State since 2005-06. At the conclusion of the season, the Pack was ranked 20th in the final ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll. The last time NC State was ranked in the final poll was following the 2003-04 season. It marked the fourth time that a Gottfried-coached team has finished ranked in the final poll. Gottfried earned his 300th career win with the Pack's 67-64 win over Virginia in the 2012 ACC Tournament quarterfinal. In 16 collegiate seasons, his career record stands at 326-179. Gottfried came to NC State after serving as an ESPN basketball analyst for two seasons. One of America's most respected coaches, he brought a wealth of experience and achievement to the Wolfpack position. He spent 11 seasons as head coach at Alabama (1998-09), compiling a record of 210-131 with five NCAA Tournament and three NIT appearances. He led Alabama to three top 25 final rankings, including one top 10 ranking. He led the Tide to the SEC regular season championship in his fourth season, also the first of five straight trips to the NCAA Tournament. For his efforts, Gottfried was named the 2002 SEC Coach of the Year. Gottfried's 2002-03 squad became the first in Alabama history to be ranked No. 1 in the AP poll, as the team held the ranking for two weeks. The program achieved another first during the 2003-04

Great read about life's obstacles and how to create a plan/process to overcome them. Coach Moton gave detailed accounts from his life on what was but challenges the reader to examine what could be and what can be! Highly recommend.

A very good read, insightful and touching. It was a little disconnected in the end with the final chapter from another person. However, I loved the structure of the book, chapters, chalkboard, life lessons and think it would be an excellent resource for a youth group study and discussion. I admire how Coach Moton has overcome many negative "odds" and continues to inspire so many.

This is a beautifully written book that gives lots of relevant advice for anyone but especially young African-Americans who might be at risk. It is inspiring and at times heartbreaking but always encouraging. You won't be disappointed!

Both Harry and Mary Lee Mamlin have read this and appreciated it very much. We have given several copies to family members for gifts, knowing they would like it as much as we did. I hope that it reaches much of its intended audience of young people who will find inspiration in LeVelle's story.

Wonderful read about my younger brother, it applies to everyone that is raising children that aspiring to be great.

I love this book and the author's insights and reflections, I am very interested in weeds so I am a bit biased. Living in California ironically some of the weeds in this book are ornamentals in California.

Ultimately I found this book to be frustrating. The premise sounded great: plant professor talks about the weeds he's known over the many years with university garden fields. "Weeds" is an interesting class of vegetation that is finally getting some much-needed attention, from folklore to foraging. I would however rather recommend such books as Weeds of the Northeast (Comstock books), the unfortunately out of print The Poison Ivy, Oak and Sumac Book: A Short Natural History and Cautionary Account, and The Forager's Harvest: A Guide to Identifying, Harvesting, and Preparing Edible Wild Plants. The first is useful for field identification; the second is not only educational but kind of fun to read as well; and the third is a readable and well illustrated ID guide and quasi-cookbook, although I haven't used it as much yet as the others, but it came highly recommended from some foragers I respect.This book however is more a compilation of rambles, where Professor Heiser does give specific botanical details but otherwise an inconsistent (and frustratingly incomplete) take on each plant. You can feel, through the text, a sense of entitlement to cover the material however he likes, because of his age and position -- there is not enough of a sense of remembering his audience. There are color photos but aside from the cover shots and a couple of the interior shots, they are unclear -- not close enough, not enough of a depth of field, ultimately not as useful as they could be and certainly not as sharp as one would expect. Yes, diagrams and drawings can actually be more useful than photos -- but there aren't enough of them either, and those present are more aesthetic and illustrative than educational.We have a lot of these weeds, and I know a little about a lot of them, enough to want to know more, and enough to feel that he has left out some important bits and also to be irritated by the subjective rambling. Of course Professor Heiser knows his material; he needed a stronger editor to send the manuscript back with notations to flesh out many of the entries. *I was however very glad to see that he does not perpetuate the urban legend of milkweed's bitterness and toxicity.*The technical botanical terms are more than I am used too -- I would have to work through them with drawings and definitions but then I'm sure I'd get the hang of it, just takes time -- but would probably be simple enough reading for more experienced gardeners. It is nice that he combines taxonomy trivia, excerpts from historical documents, folklore and the like. It's just frustrating that one pretty much has to look up any details in another book, as this one brings up a lot of topics (craft, medicinal and cooking applications for example) but does not follow through.Another thing that annoyed me about this book was the way he did give certain details that I could have done without -- specifically naming the people he considered responsible for the introduction of certain weeds. He may well be correct, as he likely supervised many of the projects and saw the weeds come in, but to this reader it felt too much like gossip, and inappropriate.It could be fun reading for some though. Great book with a lot of great information for wherever you are in your business. I learned a lot about mistakes that I have been making as an employee. I highly recommend it for everyone in the working world whether you own your own business or are just starting at your first job.

I read this book in early 2012 but just re-read it and realized that it had helped me grow in the areas of dealing with my drama and the drama of others. However, I see new areas for improvement now and am glad for the opportunity to re-read the text. However, it should be noted that rank and file employees have little ability to stop the drama that comes from management and HR. Faulty hiring practices, a lack of screening of applicants, and less-than-adequate interviewing techniques for determining both qualifications, past problems, and verifying corporate culture "fit" add to problems which may already be in existence in a workplace. Often, drama comes from the top with management which leaks information to employees for whatver reasons they may have (i.e., garner support from subordinates, demonstrate their knowledge and power, or just loose lips) and employees who then leak information to others to demonstrate their position of power and gain influence as well.Lastly, this book should be taken together with consideration and diligent application of the Biblical values espoused in Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, Psalms, and the New Testament. As time goes on, there will be more and more evil in the world and hence, the workplace, but Ms. Chism's writing is clear and applicable to today's workplace.... and although this book is not meant to bring in Christian values, it does that in a round-about way.In summary... less talk, less ego, more pride in who we are and what we do and more work will give us less drama in the workplace.

As a solopreneur I don't work in a big office or have a huge team of employees. But I am an active community volunteer for the chamber of commerce and other groups and, when time is short and project tasks are many, there can be some drama.Fortunately, Marlene Chism's book has come along just in time to help us work through the stress, focus on the common purpose and release the drama so that our goals are achieved with fewer complaints or regrets. If you're serious about your studies, you need this! A very powerful tool to have in your biblical library! It brings the Greek language of the scriptures to life and relevant.

The Complete Word Study Dictionary: New Testament is perfect for the lay person who wants to take bible study to the next level. You will need the Complete Word Study:New Testament as a companion so that you can go to the dictionary and look up the Strong's number. I also have the Hebrew-Greek Key Study Bible NASB. This bible also contains the New Testament dictionary, but the Word Study Dictionary can go into much deeper detail on many Greek words. In fact some words have several pages devoted to them. I use the Hebrew-Greek Key Study Bible for study and look up the "key" words in the Word Study Dictionary. If I want to know more about the meaning of other "non-key" words then I find their Strong's number in the Complete Word Study:New Testament and look them up in the Word Study Dictionary. If I want to know more about the Greek grammar behind a word then I find the grammatical code in the Word Study:New Testament grammatical notations. These codes represent grammatical construction in the Greek New Testament. These codes are also in the Hebrew-Greek Key Study Bible. The bottom line is that the Complete Word Study Dictionary:New Testament allows one to "dig deeper" into the New Testament Greek without knowing Greek and will revitalize your bible study.

I use an Interlinear Greek New Testament-KJV, and I found this book helpful when referring to basic Greek words and it's way of expounding on their meanings. I don't tend to use a concordance however, since I am familiar with basic Greek, but the numbers match with Strong's Concordance. If you are looking to increase your knowledge of basic Greek, and expand into Bible STUDY, not just reading (2 Tim 2:15-KJV), this is a very valuable tool. My only complaint about this Study Guide is that it doesn't have an exhaustive list of cases, tenses, gender and other aspects of Greek grammar. I am not sure if any such book exists, that is why I am learning Greek on the side. But it is, overall, a great tool to help study the Scriptures!

This is a totally remarkable resource I have used SO MUCH in my pursuit of my Doctorate degree in Divinity! It goes beyond just a dictionary (like Strong's) and explains in more detail (gives more "flavor" and meaning) than some other concordances or resources. If you are serious about understanding, presenting, and becoming the person of God He is calling you to become, this is a MUST HAVE!

I purchased this for a friend and she uses it all the time. She says she loves it.

A most excellent Biblical Resource

Great book if you want to know the meaning of the Greek words as you study in the New Testament. Very thorough and encourages great times of meditation on the Word of God. I am using mine nearly every day.

This is the best FI book I've ever read. Probst starts at the begining ... and that's something rare if you know what I mean.This is my first experience with a supercharged LT-1 Corvette motor, and it would have taken me twice as long as it did to learn it, had I not had this book.

The Corvette has had electronic fuel injection since 1982. For most of that time, what the world has needed is a good textbook on Corvette EFI systems directed at those not well-versed on EFI and focused on theory and general description rather than on diagnosis and repair.At first glance, this book appears to fit that bill. It's written and laid-out more like a textbook than a service manual. Its 400-page package size has room for detail. It has nine chapters, each covering one aspect of Corvette EFI theory and function with only two chapters on diagnosis and service and one (a very large one) of schematics. The book's outline is pretty good. Charles Probst, who's authored other books on electronic fuel injection seemed like a perfect match for Bentley Publishers, a long-time producer of automotive technical books.Unfortunately, once you find out how much inaccuracy and sloppy proofreading are in this book, there's just no way around the fact that How to Understand and Modify Corvette Fuel Injection and Electronic Engine Management 1982 Through 2001 has more problems than just a long title.The errors begin as soon as you open the book, on the inside back cover, in a an '82-'01 Corvette powertrain listing) where the L98 engine is misidentified as an "L89" and the 2001, LS1's power output is listed as 345hp-it's actually 350hp.If all that's wrong with this book is a few typographical errors in engine RPOs and power ratings, how can a reviewer have such a negative opinion? After all, it was the late Chuck Probst's final project in life. He died at age 82, a week after finishing it.With due respect to Probst's legacy, it's not just a "few errors"; it's a lot of errors-throughout the entire book. If one purpose of this book is to explain basics to laypersons; it confuses its intended audience because few of these readers will know which translation is right and which is wrong.In the book, engines are identified with their RPOs, such as: L83, L98, LT1, LT4, LS1 and LS6. The LT5 engine is, in most instances, misidentified as "ZR-1". RPO LT5 identified the engine in a specific Corvette model known as the ZR-1. This error is ironic is because at the beginning of the book there's a picture of Probst in the driver seat of a ZR-1. We can assume he was at least a ZR-1 enthusiast or, perhaps, a ZR-1 owner and should have known the difference.The book's mistakes and inaccuracies are not only text. They extend to illustrations. A drawing, which according to its caption portrays the computer-aided gear selection ("CAGS" or "skip shift") wiring and components on the ZF S6-40 six-speed manual transmission in a '89-'96 Corvette, actually shows the Tremec T56 six-speed used in 1993-2002 Chevy Camaros. Another drawing's caption says the reader is viewing 1997-1999 Corvette LS1 and '01- oxygen sensor and catalytic converter placement but shows that hardware for a 1998-2002 Chevy Camaro LS1 which has an entirely different O2S and cat layout.Detonation is misidentified as pre-ignition in a mistake which laypersons often make but in a book like this is inexcusable. The first emissions controls are listed as being introduced in 1968 but, in reality, the year was 1966 for California cars and 1967 for all cars sold in the U.S. The book consistently lists six-speed introduction in Corvette as 1990 but it was, actually, 1989. The LT5 is said to have two different lengths of intake port runners. It does not. The book claims most EFI Corvettes use engine-driven AIR pumps. Most Corvettes have electric AIR pumps. The book says "underhood" catalytic converters (also known as "auxiliary" or "pup" cats) only operate during the first four minutes after start-up. Pup cats operate at all times. There's a chart of model year, number and location of Corvette catalytic converters that has incorrect information for several years. The list of problems goes on and on.Perhaps the book's most grievous error is the chapter on modification which, in addition to having errors, lacking detail and being too short, relies too much on aftermarket manufacturer claims of performance gains rather than facts gained through impartial testing.Now, this book is not all bad. There is some error-free, good information, particularly in the explanations of general EFI theory and in a section at the back of the book on basic diagnostics. Unfortunately, interspaced in the theory and explanations are so many typographical errors, mistakes and inaccuracies that, for laypeople, this book would be an unreliable source of information.I think you get the picture. Understanding and Modifying Corvette Fuel Injection is a stinker. If you're looking for a text that offers accurate and detailed information about Corvette EFI, don't look here. Until Bentley Publishers decides to revise this book, stick to the factory service manual or other sources.

If you already know everything you need to know about fuel injection, this book won't help much. But if you have no or only a cursory knowledge of how fuel injection systems work, this book is a masterpiece.The book uses the Corvette as the prototypical example, but 90% of the information applies to almost all modern fuel injection systems. It walks you through how each component of an FI system is used, what its there for, what each sensor is and how the computer uses them.How could such a great book receive such a low review from one other person? That reviewer is a disgruntled, self-style automotive journalist that probably bristles at the fact he hasn't had anything published in years in light of Probst's masterful book (I don't know Probst nor have I ever met him).Is it possible that they used a Camaro illustration for transmission CAGS wiring instead of a Vette? I guess so. Is it possible the term "pre-ignition" is used in place of "detonation" once? Does it warrant slamming this excellent work with a 2-star rating? Not if you don't have an agenda.

I purchased this book as a homeowner and to get an overall understanding about roofing options. The book is exactly what it states: A Quick Guide. It explains different roofing options in a matter of fact manner without going to much into detail.The pictures are clear and show exactly what I needed to know. The book helped me to make a decision and to put roofing on a shed myself.

Some good and useful information presented in an understandable fashion. Some was not as clear or could have used more pic's or elaboration. But I'm still glad I bought it. I recommend it.

This is not the book I would recommend if you want once that really shows you how to roof a house or business. Buy something else.

The book was easy to understand and had very helpful illustrations. It did not cover some recent roofing materials, such as 'dimensional' shingles and 'ice guard' eave protection, but using this guide alone, you have all the information you need to roof your first house (it worked for me). P.S. Don't roof it by yourself; you will save a lot of time with a good helper.

My grandson who is a low level but very talented runner for cross country and track loved this book The pictures are great and he liked figuring out the test. He is adopted from out of Ethiopia so language and reading is challenging. Tears came to my eyes when I saw him trying to read this book.
