I enjoyed this story but I gave it 4 stars because I thought some of the continuity was off on a few things. That being said, I do recommend the book. It was a fun read with interesting characters.
IDK what's going on with this book or the other two that I recently tried to read by this author. I thought the Trilyn Alien Fairy Tale series was odd but this one continues to be the same kind of odd even though it's not from that series. The stilted, overly involved and highly repetitive writing style makes it almost seem like a it was written by a bot or person with English as a second language. Phrases like my "my father were" and aliens that use trendy pop culture phrases like "Lurk Much?" pull me right out of the story. The alien prince was some kind of arrogant ego maniac thinking obsessively about buying a human virgin to defile. Meanwhile, the female main character was written as totally hysterical and dramatic. Even though he knows she was abducted and just sold at auction to the highest bidder, the male main character tries to give her a good old fashioned talking to because he "hoped to get her to listen to reason". In an effort to get her to calm down he point out that he bought her because she was the "prettiest". When she said she wanted to go back to Earth he told her "It's not your home anymore, sweetheart.". Because yea, that's how aliens speak to human women. I seriously don't know what to do with any of that. This story almost seems like it was written by a male, relying on passé male/female stereotypes. Neither character is believable or particularly likable. DNF. Gave up midway though chapter 6. The books are not high quality but I see them advertised all over social media.
I thought this was a pretty good read. I liked Lucy. I felt she was realistic and easy to relate to if a bit bratty. I must be honest and say that initially I was not a fan of Harkzak. To me he really came cross as a big misogynist. The culture he was from certainly slanted that way and I found it off-putting. I don't know, maybe it was just me or being new to this authors work or this series. Regardless, I did warm up to him as the story unfolded and the layers to his character were peeled back and you get the full picture of who he is. I thought both these characters had deep seated insecurities and I liked that a lot. The chemistry between these two was intense and steamy. There's plenty of drama and secrets to get through on their road to romance. I enjoyed the plot, it was a bit different and kept me engaged. This is my independent, impartial review.
I'm torn about this book! Abducting and auctioning virgin human females to a certain alien race, not crazy about. They could've gone about getting mates differently! Aside from that, the h,Lucy, was a mean, selfish, spoiled brat! I could understand her anger at being stolen and sold, even with it directed at the H,Harkzak, but she was hateful to those that she knew she shouldn't be! Harkzak was an entitled prince, however he grew and tried to connect with Lucy, when he could have just taken what he wanted. I want to think that the author tried to have her be strong, but to me at least that's not how she came out! She does try to redeem herself toward the last!I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I loved Owned by the Alien Prince by Zara Zenia! This book is a fun, witty, page turner that is my new favorite alien abduction story. As soon as I began reading it, I noticed that even though this book is listed as the third book in the Alien Auction House series, it is a stand alone book that has a definitive story arc that is exciting, unpredictable, steamy, and romantic. This surprising story enthralled me immediately with its great world building of Xicret from Prince Harkzak’s point of view. I became immersed in the personal views of both main characters through which the story is told. From the very first chapter, where Prince Harkzak of Xicret is introduced as a misogynist who believes his species is superior to all other species in the universe. Through Harkzak’s realization that Lucy’s spitfire personality and other feminist traits are actually very different from his acceptations of what he believed Earth girls would be like. How Harkzak changes his mind about what he wants in a mate to when Lucy realizes how she truly feels about Harkzak and living with him on Xicret. Then finally, how Harkzak and Lucy’s independent realizations each lead them to an amazing happy ever after ending together. I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a well written story with great world building, fun character interactions, great dialogue, and an unforgettable ending.I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Wow. The hero was jerk. The heroine, Lucy, has been abducted then auctioned off to an alien. Does he have any compassion? Nope. All he can think about is getting another Earth virgin, except this one will be his mate since he's a prince and his parents are pressuring him. She's obviously emotionally upset and he demands a refund from his dad who's in charge of the auctions (and who rapes Earth virgins) and refers to her as not nice female dog name. Later on she apologizes for her behavior during this time, as if it wasn't completely warrented since he'd just bought her like an object and not a human and refused to return to her to her life! What? Something happens and she decides to except her new life here and admits that she's found him attractive this whole time. But it's built on a lie and guilt starts to get to Harkzak. Thankfully his character starts to develop because he was just awful at the beginning. It was hard to believe that Lucy fell for him in an day basically after how upset she was.I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
